Dereverb — Echo Remover AI
Getting Started
How do I clean a recording?
Open the app and tap "Clean a recording" on the dashboard. Choose Record now (in-app mic), Pick audio file (Files / iCloud Drive), or Pick video clip (Photos). Cleanup happens automatically; the result screen lets you A/B compare before saving or sharing.
How does the A/B compare slider work?
Drag the thumb across the waveform to choose between the original and the cleaned version. The waveform shows gray for the original (left of the thumb) and accent-colored for cleaned (right). You can also tap the swap icon to toggle between the two without scrubbing.
What's the difference between Light, Standard, and Strong?
These are mix-back amounts for the cleaned signal. Light keeps a hint of room character (good for podcasts that should still sound natural). Standard is the default, balanced cleanup. Strong applies the most aggressive dereverb (best for heavy bedroom or kitchen echo). Free users have access to Standard; Premium unlocks Light and Strong.
Audio & Video
Does it work on video files?
Yes. Pick a video clip from your Photos library and the App extracts the audio, cleans it, then mixes it back into the original video. The video stream itself is not re-encoded — visual quality is preserved bit-for-bit.
What audio formats are supported?
M4A, MP3, WAV, AIFF, and standard MP4/MOV video containers. The App automatically resamples to the model's working rate (48 kHz) and exports at the original container's format.
The cleanup didn't fully remove the echo. Why?
Dereverb is trained for light-to-moderate room reverb. Recordings made in tiled bathrooms, large empty rooms, or cathedrals can leave audible residual artifacts. Try the Strong strength setting (Premium) for the most aggressive cleanup. For very heavy reverb, no on-device tool can fully recover the original voice — in that case, re-recording in a quieter space is often faster.
Does it work on music or singing?
The bundled model is trained on speech, not music. Cleanup may degrade musical content. For voice-over of a music track, separate the voice track first and clean only the voice.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Standard cleanup runs entirely on your device, even on a plane or with no signal. Only the optional Studio mode (post-launch) requires a connection.
Free vs Premium
What's free vs Premium?
Free: 1 cleaned clip per day, up to 60 seconds per clip, Standard strength only, with banner and interstitial ads. Premium: Unlimited daily cleans, longer clips up to 30 minutes audio / 10 minutes video, Light / Standard / Strong strength control, batch processing, export presets, and zero ads.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — the Premium Annual plan ($39.99/year) includes a 7-day free trial. You'll only be charged at the end of the trial. Cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings before the trial ends.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings inside the App and tap "Restore Purchases". This re-applies your active subscription if you've previously purchased one on this Apple ID.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Dereverb and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Privacy
Where do my recordings go?
They stay on your iPhone. The App does not upload audio to any server. Cleanup runs on-device using a bundled Core ML model. You can confirm by toggling Airplane Mode — cleanup still works. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
What permissions does the app need?
Microphone (only when you tap Record), Photo Library read-only (only for the video clip you pick), and Notifications (optional, for background-processing completion alerts).
